Wired Magazine and Creative Commons released a CD to promote the new Creative Commons sampline licences. The songs on this CD use one of two Creative Commons licences. The Noncommercial Sampling Plus licence permits noncommercial file-sharing and noncommercial sampling. The other licence is the more expansive Sampling Plus license. Like the noncommercial version, it allows file-sharing. But it also allows commercial use of samples. More details on the licenses and their permissions are available at creativecommons.org/wired.

There will be a free book fair in Montreal this weekend to coincide with the Salon du livre de Montreal. The “main event” is Saturday evening, featuring panel discussions by people involved in Open/Free publishing.
